09/12/11 - SNCL can now help with your Cognos 7 to 8 migration. SNCL uses Metadata Manager to help. This can be done with a flat fee per report, starting at $250 per report (Impromptu to Report Studio). Call 516-633-8214 for details.

09/08/10 - Metadata Manager for $995 !! SNCL has lowered the price of Metadata Manager to $995 in the interest of increasing market share for Cognos migration tools. Cost is $995 + $300 (support) = $1295. Call 516-633-8214 for details.

08/18/09 - SNCL is now a Software ValueNet Partner SNCL has been granted IBM PartnerWorld Software Valuenet designation, being converted from a Cognos Services Partner. SNCL has also achieved ISV (Independent Software Vendor)status, for the recognition of value added from SNCL's flagship product, Metadata Manager. This allows IBM to utilize SNCL's products and services in opportunities where IBM sees a benefit.

07/14/09 - New version of Metadata Manager has been released. The new version of Metadata Manager has matured into the most powerful Cognos Series 7 Metadata tool available to the Cognos Community. Impact Management is vastly more comprehensive. Users can see impact from single or groups of objects of the following perspectives: Data Source, Data Source Table, Data Source Column, Filter/Join, or Report Spec. Registering reports are faster and more accurate. The following file types are now supported: Impromptu .imr, .iqd, catalogs, and Powerplay .ppx files. Migration roadmaps can be exported easily to Excel. Powerplay .ppx files have a utility that batch migrates .ppx files to 7.4 - while having the ability to select files, change the cube name, and change the target NewsBox. Creating Cube Specs and Report Groups are easier. And the groundwork is coded in to do report-to-cube migration analysis. A Winner !!

05/15/09 - New version of Metadata Manager will have new functionality. The new version of Metadata Manager, to be released shortly, will have extended functionality that will help in migrating Powerplay custom views in batch. Extending the existing functionality of defining all Powerplay custom views on a server, the new functionality allows IBM Cognos Administrators to define a target server and portal folders, and batch migrate all Powerplay views, including ones in Personal NewsBoxes, to the new server. This will reduce migration time for Powerplay deployments from weeks to hours.

05/15/09 - BASF Buys Metadata Manager. BASF, based in Germany, has purchased Metadata Manager to help manage its Cognos 7 deployment in North America. The company's deployment includes 750 IWR Reports in Production and 32 Powercubes, supported by 10 catalogs. BASF will be using Metadata Manager for its powerful impact analysis features. Metadata Manager was instrumental in identifying all Cognos reports where over 200 Master Data tables were changed during their SLO project (Global Master Data change).

04/02/09 - SNCL will be Exhibiting at the Cognos IBM Forum in Orlando, May 12-15. Here's your chance to meet the guys, and get a peek at SNCL's latest and greatest offerings, Metadata Manager and C7Auditor. Both tools combine forces to provide manageable and detailed information about your Cognos 7 deployment that will enable any organization to drive down support and migration costs significantly. C7Auditor provides detailed usage data from your Cognos 7 deployment; Metadata Manager provides all the Metadata needed to address the 3 main pain points of a Cognos Deployment: 1) Impact Management, 2) Technical Documentation/Standardization, and 3) Cognos Migration . SNCL will be demonstrating Metadata Manager's new powerful features at the booth. See how SNCL's "Object Mapping" approach to Cognos7-8 migrations can significantly reduce costs and headaches, even if introduced during the migration process. See you there !!

04/01/09 - Metadata Manager new version will be a BLOCKBUSTER. The new version, coming out in May, will have major feature functionality enhancements. 1) Impromptu Catalog Support. MM will be able to parse any Impromptu catalog, and provide information such as full Folder Path of catalog items, Calculations and Filters. This will be part of the Impact Analysis feature functionality when other database objects are used. 2) UpFront Powerplay Custom Views are supported. In Windows environments, Metadata Manager can connect to the UpFront data Store and provide information on all Powerplay reports and custom views published, including full folder path in UpFront. This will provide a level of Impact Management that no other utility has in its class. 3) Migration features. SNCL has developed a methodology for migration which can reduce costs by over 50%. Metadata Manager quickly provides all of the metadata objects used in a Cognos 7 deployment, as well as technical documentation for all Report Specs. This provides a roadmap for proper and precise Framework Manager Modelling efforts. This "Object Mapping" approach is significantly more efficient and manageable than the "lift and shift" approach. See a demo of the approach at the IBM Cognos Forum in Orlando, May 12-15.
