3/1/05 - Metadata Manager New Version is now available. A new version of Metadata Manager has been released, which has better support for Prompts (Prompt Sets), better cleanup when deleting Report Specs, and better support for SubSelect queries with SubTotals.

Prompt Sets were created to facilitate rapid mapping of prompts to reports which use the same prompts. The user first creates a Prompt Set with a name. Another screen allows the definition of individual prompts. The user then maps the prompt to the Prompt Set. Finally, the user maps the Prompt Set to the report.

Prior versions of Metadata Manager kept certain metadata that was not referenced by a Report Spec. For example: Two Report Specs are registered, originating from different data sources. One Report Spec is deleted. In prior versions, the data source from the deleted Report Set was still there, but became an orphan. In addition, all of the Metadata Reports allowed the user to print orphan metadata objects. The new version deletes all orphan metadata objects, and does not provide a report for them.

In prior versions of Metadata Manager, some subselect queries did not fully qualify columns in calculations, but provided a "C1" reference coming from the true SQL. The new version now fully qualifies this column.

1/3/05 - PPES Auditor New Version available. A new version of PPES Auditor has been released, which now supports Level and Measure cube usage. This allows Administrators to see cube usage at a much more granular "level". The Level and Measure usage dimensions use their own measures in the cube, tracking # Hits, Categories Accessed, and Avg Categories/Hit. In addition, PPES Auditor now parses Errors from the logs (failed requests), although this feature is currently not integrated into the cube. However, Administrators can reqport on it from the included Impromptu catalog. Lastly, when PPES Auditor is installed using the "No questions Asked" install method, there are no pointers to reset in the Impromptu reports and .iqd's. Everything is installed into the default folder of c:\Program Files\SNCL\PPES Auditor .
