9/16/04 - Q: I have an evaluation version of Metadata Manager. I tried to register a report, and got an error. How do I get this fixed? A: Send an e-mail to bimanagerus@snclus with an explanation of the error and attach your report as an .iqd. It will be sent to Development for troubleshooting. When the issue is resolved (7-10 days), we will reply to the e-mail with the updated code, announce a new version, and send the updated code to all other users. If you would like your metadata migrated, just mention it in the e-mail.

08/11/04 - Q: We are looking for a way to get a better grasp on our Impromptu/PowerPlay metadata and came upon your name under the "Cognos metadata management" search. We have several depts accessing our Upfront server for both iwr and pp reports. We would like to have a data base (preferably Oracle) that would be web enabled and allow all users to search by report name or keyword (such as variable within report) and also be allowed to get attributes associated with variables with reports. A: Metadata Manager provides all the functionality you are looking for. As for being web-enabled, the next release of Metadata Manager (due 9/1/04) will contain an Impromptu catalog that will contain the data model of the application. This will provide the ability for users to create custom reports from Metadata Manager, and publish them to UpFront via IWR. The back-end database is Microsoft Access, which easily accomodates this type of functionality, and is a replicated database; this allows for easy replication of code changes.

8/02/04 - Q: The Metadata Manager Flash Demo is grainy looking, and I need the scroll bars to view it. How do I improve the picture? A: The current versions of Metadata Manager and PPES Auditor Flash Demos are self-extracting executables that automatically run in full screen mode, providing much clearer picture quality.
