5/15/06 - Q: Do you support the Cognos 8 BI platform for PPES Auditor/ IWR Auditor? A: Series 8, like ReportNet, has features to send the audit logs to a database. IWR does not exist in ReportNet or Series 8; that was replaced by Report Studio. We are currently researching whether Analysis Studio sends audit data to a database, or can produce text log files externally. There has been discussion about importing ReportNet and Series 8 audit logs into PPES-IWR Auditor, but no decision has been made yet. 5/23/06 - We have confirmed with Cognos that in ReportNet, PPES audit logs are produced externally, as in prior versions, but Analysis Studio usage is sent to a set of database tables within Content Manager, with a new format. So the answer to the question is that Report Studio and Analysis Studio is not supported in the current versions of PPES-IWR Auditor, but all versions of Powerplay and IWR are.

11/24/04 - Q: When viewing the PPESAuditor cube, I've got a user called " Unknown User " that's showing significant activity, and a cube called " Unknown Cube" has recorded 133 sessions this month. Pls Advise. A: "Unknown User" and "Unknown Cube" are dummy names that are added to activity that does not have a log entry for a user or a cube. This might happen, for example, if a user accesses a remote Powercube through the client, and not through UpFront. Another reason would be that you do not have the appropriate level of detail set on the cube and/or the server. Make sure the audit level is set to "detail" in PPES Server Administrator.

11/5/04 - Q: Does the SNCL software capture all instances of access? We have created customized views of cubes for users; if a user then opens the cube, checks their data and then exits without manipulating the cube, this is recorded as a usage type I in the log file, and as such do not get reported when using the Cognos utility (Sessionizer). A: Yes it does. It captures the activity as a request against the cube.

10/28/04 - Q: Does PPES Auditor support all versions of PPES with one copy of the software? I am upgrading PPES to 7.3 and need to know if my current version will work. A: SNCL will be releasing one version of PPES Auditor that will be able to read all versions of PPES logs. Upon the upgrade, licensed users of PPES Auditor should test the newly generated log files. PPES Auditor supports all versions of series 7, up to and including 7.3 . Upgrades and data migration are included in the support agreement.
